SOLON — Learning Center Students at the Solon High School (SHS) have been learning about the concept of “GIVING BACK” by doing readings, writings, and discussions about the thinking of others. We have identified how we each give back to our families, school, and community. We have decided to do a Holiday Service Project that is collecting food for the Solon Food Bank.
On Friday, December 8 we toured the Food Pantry in Solon at the Methodist Church. Sandy Hansen, the food pantry organizer, shared with us about food sorting and stocking, volunteers, and items needed most. This was a hands-on learning experience for the students to learn where the food we will collect goes and how it is distributed.
A collection bin is located in every school office, and we will be collecting until Jan. 15.
Items needed most are:
• Cereal/kids cereals
• Ramen noodles
• Flour
• Sugar
• Vegetable oil
• Toilet paper
• Fruit cups
• Pasta
• Sauces
• Chunky soups
SHS Learning Center students are encouraging you to enjoy conversations at home to support our project. Share this Holiday Service Project with family, neighbors, and friends. If you can, bring in food items to any of the school offices. Thank you for your support.
Happy Holidays!!!
