WILLIAMSBURG — The Lady Spartans were on the mats Monday at Williamsburg’s Girls Invitational and placed tenth out of 28 teams represented.
Kara VeDepo won at 105 pounds with two byes, a 40-second pin over Independence’s Alaina Terhune in the semifinals, and a win by fall (5:26) over East Buchanan’s Valeria Torres. Emily Pence won her junior varsity (JV) class by pinning Central DeWitt’s Zoey Rooks (1:31), Linn-Mar’s Danika Berleen (26 seconds), and Muscatine’s Tessa Kauffman (45 seconds).
Tess Richards was fourth at 110 pounds, Avery Kellen took fifth at 190, Kate Richards was seventh at 115, and Alexis Anderson placed eighth at 135 pounds.
