The Solon Educational Foundation, in cooperation with the Solon Athletic Booster Club, was awarded an $18,000 grant to be used for a new baseball scoreboard November 29th at Riverside Casino. The Washington County Riverboat Association handed out 24 area grants picked to receive $2.1 million dollars.
The new scoreboard is another phase of the nearly $300,000 in renovations done at the high school baseball field. Coach Keith McSweeney was on hand to receive the grant and proudly stated Solon has the best high school baseball field in the state. Solon Athletic Booster President Mike Kabela commented that the grant combined with a generous donation from The Solon Area Community Foundation and funds raised during the two-plus year fundraising campaign will allow the school to order the scoreboard and have installation completed before Solon’s first home game in May 2024.
