SOLON — The voters have spoken, and the city will have a new mayor.
Outgoing city councilman Daniel P. O’Neil garnered nine more votes than current Mayor Steve Stange in the Nov. 7 City and School Election, defeating Stange 191-182. Stange joined the council in 2006, served as Mayor Pro Tem, was appointed by the council as Mayor in 2014 to fill a vacancy, and elected in 2015 and 2019 to four-year terms. O’Neil was elected to the council in 2019 for a four-year term.
There were four write-in ballots cast.
Kramer and Farlinger elected to city council
The city council election was essentially un-contested as incumbent John D. Farlinger, and newcomer Andrew Kramer ran for two open seats with Farlinger seeking reelection while Kramer ran for O’Neil’s seat. Kramer collected 298 votes with 279 for Farlinger. There were 28 write-ins. The Solon Economist plans to profile Kramer in an upcoming edition.
Status Quo for school board
Adam Haluska and Jami Wolf retained their seats on the Solon Community School District School Board of Directors with 406 votes for Haluska, 395 for Wolf, and 19 write-ins.
Change at the top and a new face on the city council
