IOWA CITY — The City High Little Hawks hosted the 2023 Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC) Sophomore Championship swimming and diving meet Saturday, Oct. 28 and finished tenth in team points. Cedar Falls won the meet with 375 points followed by Iowa City West High/Liberty High (354), Waterloo West (250), Linn-Mar (203), Cedar Rapids Kennedy (197), Dubuque Senior (179), Dubuque Wahlert (161), Dubuque Hempstead (134), Cedar Rapids Washington (124), City High (107), and Cedar Rapids Jefferson (65).
Madelyn Elkins, a freshman, is one of eight Solon High School girls swimming with the Little Hawks this season and was tenth in the 50-yard freestyle in 28.11 seconds. Elkins anchored the seventh-place 200-yard medley relay (2:15.81) with City’s Adel Cilek, Lolita Hurlbutt, and Vidya Kumar, and anchored the eighth-place 200-yard freestyle relay (1:55.05) with City’s Celeste Miller, Eliza Mitchell, and Mira Cunning. Elkins led off in the ninth-place 400-yard freestyle relay (4:16.51) with Cunning, Adelaide Newton, and Celeste Miller.
