When it comes to interior and exterior painting, Americans have a lot of color options. But a new report by Chicago-based digital marketing agency Digital Third Coast (www.digitalthirdcoast.com) shows each state has its own favorite. Jen LeMair, a media specialist with Digital Third Coast, said according to the analysis of Google search trends, Iowa’s favorite paint color is Sherwin Williams’ ‘Evergreen Fog.’
“In general, our 50 states might as well be dubbed ‘Fifty Shades of Neutrals,’” LeMair said, noting the top-ten paint colors in the United States are mostly some shade of white and gray. The report also surveyed 1,000 homeowners and found 93% have painted at least one room in their home, spending an average of $439 on interior paint projects in the past year.
Other findings:
• The most popular paint color in the United States is Sherwin Williams’ ‘Grizzle Gray.’
• Americans spent an average of $1,001 on exterior paint in the past year.
• 74% say picking out a paint color isn’t easy.
40% said they have regretted a paint color choice while 1-in-3 have repainted a room because they didn’t like the color they initially painted it.
