GRINNELL — Sparty’s Boys notched their third consecutive win Friday, Sept. 22 as they rolled over the Grinnell Tigers 40-7 to start (class 3A) District 5 competition.
“It’s great to be 1-0 in the district and 4-1 overall heading into homecoming week with a great matchup vs Benton,” said Coach Lucas Stanton. “Grinnell was kind of a slow start for us, but we are happy with the end result. Grinnell is a much-improved football team and gave us everything they had. It was a tough week and a tough game coming off of the emotional week prior, but we were happy to see our kids respond in a positive way. (I) Couldn’t be more proud of the way our team is starting to gel and play in all three phases. We have had a lot of different guys step up which is also great to see.”

This is a huge game in terms of setting us up for one of our goals this season, which is to win a district championship. Our kids and coaches are looking forward to a great homecoming atmosphere against a quality opponent.”
