As a special way to celebrate we have a drawing for all patrons who sign up for a library card, renew their card, or use their card during the month of September. One lucky winner will receive a S’mores Gift Set.
Library Events
Early-out Thursdays at the Library are all about the kids! BAM POW activities begin at 1:45 p.m. for 1st through 8th graders, walk over to the Library after school to Build and Make, Play or Watch with us! CATS activities will be Thursday, Sept. 14 (Canvas Painting) and Thursday, Sept. 28 (Salsa Making), and begin at 4:45 p.m. for 6th-12th graders, and include some of our Creative Amazing Teens of Solon favorites like outdoor games, Kahoot!, trivia, and more. Full schedules for the fall are available at the Library and on our website.
Calling all bakers! Cookbook Club participants are baking up pastries this month. Pastries are small buns made using a stiff dough enriched with fat. Some dishes, such as pies, are made of a pastry casing that covers or completely contains a filling of various sweet or savory ingredients. Check out a pastry cookbook, try a recipe or two, and bring it to share Saturday, September 16 at 11:00 a.m.
The Solon Book Club is reading The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. This staff favorite is sure to be a great discussion, as it is an enchanting love story, masterfully told, about the profound experience of discovering an unlikely family in an unexpected place – and realizing that family is yours. Pick up a copy of the book and join us at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 19 to discuss.
Don’t get frustrated with technology, let us help! We’re holding Tech Talk Thursday, September 21 at 9:30 a.m. and featuring the Libby App. We’ll explain how Libby works, help you set up your Library account, and get you started with borrowing eBooks, eAudio, magazines, and more!
The benefits of chair yoga continue to amaze us all! Patrons have remarked about increased range of motion, improvements to quality of life, and enjoyed the social interaction. You can join us to see what the fuss is all about! Mondays at 12:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. Please note the class size is capped at 25 to allow adequate space and optimal instruction.
Library Access
Regular Library hours are Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Closed Sundays.
Please note the library will be open from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 22 to allow time for our monthly staff in-service.
