HUXLEY — Solon matched up well with eight central Iowa schools on Monday, Sept. 11 in a ‘two class’ meet hosted by Ballard High School.
Sydney Dee (20:48) was sixth overall in the 66 girl, nine school ‘smaller’ field pacing Solon to a 56-73 win over Des Moines Christian across five kilometers of rolling hills. Ava Rolwes was next across for the Lady Spartans (21:08). Anna Quillin (21:08), Falyn Svalstad (21:26) and Gracie Federspiel (21:47) filled out Solon’s first five.
Atlantic (92) and Madrid (99) grabbed third and fourth place.
In the ‘B’ enrollment boys race, Solon was second to Des Moines Christian 32-52 with eight other schools trailing. Brick Kabela won the five kilometer run in 16:29.5; teammates Michael Yeomans (10th), Collin Bumsted (11th), Lawsin Sinwell (13th) and Spencer Michaels (17th) backed him. Nevada was third, Atlantic was fourth in the ten school race.
