SHUEYVILLE — All God’s Children (AGC) daycare would like to build a playground for the community to enjoy at the Shueyville United Methodist Church. To help raise the $300,000 needed, a color run/walk is being held this Saturday, Sept. 9, at the church, 1195 Steeple Lane NE in Shueyville.
Pre-registration at https://forms.gle/mmmS9MLjZG7AdBk86 is preferred although day of registration will be available starting at 8:15 a.m. with the event to start at 9:00 a.m. Cost to participate is $20 for children aged 3-12 (kids 2 and under are free), $25 for adults, and $100 for a family of five.
The Fork & Chef food truck will be onsite with $3 breakfast sandwiches, $2 cinnamon rolls, and $2 coffee and orange juice.
An informal survey of school age children by AGC staff found they want new things to do and ways to play as the current playground is too small and lacking features for various ages. Also, they are excited to be able to climb on things.
“We are excited to build a playground that kids of all abilities can enjoy to be shared with the community,” said All God’s Children director Ali Huebner. “We want to encourage families to spend more time outdoors, and help children develop physically and socially.”
A vendor market is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 4 with space still available. Contact Brenda Swanson at 319-213-5804 for more information.
