CEDAR RAPIDS —UnityPoint Health has appointed Michelle Niermann, UnityPoint Health-Cedar Rapids President and CEO as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) for its East Division. In this elevated enterprise role, Niermann will oversee operations at UnityPoint Health hospitals in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Dubuque, the Quad Cities, and Madison, WI. As part of this transition, Casey Greene (of Solon) has been named the new Market President for UnityPoint Health-Cedar Rapids, effective Monday, August 28.
“I look forward to building upon the strong culture and mission of our Cedar Rapids market,” said Greene. “Our intent is to continue to develop opportunities to better support our patients and providers, invest in our workforce, and show people how much they matter.”
Greene most recently served as Vice President and COO for UnityPoint Health-Cedar Rapids, which includes St. Luke’s Hospital and its associated entities. He joined the organization in 2019 and brings more than 20 years of expertise in operational leadership, human resources, and finance, as well as experience from several senior healthcare management positions within the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor. Greene received his Bachelor of Arts degree in finance with a master’s in business administration from the University of Iowa. He is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and serves on numerous non-profit boards and committees in Eastern Iowa.

Casey and his wife Holly moved to Solon in 2015. The couple has two daughters in the Solon Community Schools.
