We’re heading into back-to-school season! All after school programs at the Solon Public Library begin in September. Our first BAM POW Thursday early-out program is Thursday, September 7. Please note our weekly BAM POW program is now for students in 1st through 8th grades. We’ll have activities for the different ages from 1:45-2:45 p.m. in the Library meeting room. A fall schedule of activities is available at the Library and on our website.
Teens (6th-12th graders) will be able to enjoy Your Space on Tuesdays after school beginning September 5 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and CATS programs on Thursday, Sept. 14 and Thursday, Sept. 28, from 4:45-5:45 p.m.
Supervision is provided during the Library program in the meeting room, while children also have the option to enjoy the rest of the Library. These programs are drop-in, no registration. We recommend parents and caregivers discuss their expectations, pick-up procedures, etc. with their children. Library staff are sharing these programs for participating children, but this does not provide the need for supervised childcare.
We recommend families, students, and caregivers update your calendars and plan for these fun programs at the Library — starting in September!

Have you ever been reading a fictional book and the characters were making a delicious sounding recipe that you wish you were enjoying too? Were characters enjoying a meal together that sounded like something you’d love to cook up? We have the perfect opportunity to bring those fictional recipes to life! Our August Cookbook Club is on Saturday, August 19 at 11:00 a.m. and our theme is Fictional Favorites! Grab a favorite book or recipe that sounded delicious and try your hand at it. There are many examples of recipes being shared in works of fiction — raspberry cordial in Anne of Green Gables, butterbeer in Harry Potter, black and white cookies in Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. What dishes have you read about? Bring them to life and share them at Cookbook Club.
What role does music play in your life? Does it bring you joy? Inspire creativity? Join us for Music Cafe with CARTHA on Tuesday, August 22nd at 6:30 p.m. to share how music impacts your life, listen to performers, and enjoy the evening! All ages are invited to enjoy Music Cafe.

Each Wednesday you can start your day with Coffee and Conversations at 9 a.m. then stick around for chair yoga at 10. Please note: Wednesday, August 23rd we will not have Coffee or Yoga due to the Library meeting room being painted. We’ll see you the following week!
Participants of all ages are welcome to join us for a Community Spelling Bee on Tuesday, August 29 at 6:30 p.m. While it is geared towards adults and young adults, everyone is welcome.
