CEDAR RAPIDS — During Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month in June, Alzheimer’s advocates across the nation, including Amanda Pins of Cedar Rapids, will participate in The Longest Day® to fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s through an activity of their choice. Pins is hosting her 9th annual BIKES BEHIND BRAINS ride in memory of her mom who passed from Alzheimer’s in 2017. So far, she has raised $17,000 toward her goal of $30,000.
Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Sag Wagon in Cedar Rapids followed by a group picture at 10:00 a.m. and the ride beginning at 10:45 a.m. Riders should sign up in advance for one of four routes for their ride to Odie’s in Ely and back. Registration is free, but donations are encouraged and raffle tickets will be sold for $50 per ten tickets for the chance to win prizes donated from local businesses. To find out more and register, visit the BIKES BEHIND BRAINS Facebook page (www.facebook.com/bikesbehindbrains/)or fundraising page at https://act.alz.org/site/TR?px=654190&fr_id=16164&pg=personal to donate.
