SOLON — Six varsity Lady Spartans were recently named to the WaMaC Conference’s East Division All Conference Girls Soccer teams for 2022-2023.
First Team picks were Gabby Knipper, Morgan Link, and Izzy Paisley.
Knipper, a junior, produced six goals and four assists, made 31 shots on goal with 55 in total, and started in all 16 games this season.
Link, a senior, led the team with 19 goals. She had four assists, had 44 shots on goal, and 75 shots total along with a pair of PK’s. She started in all 16 games.
Paisley, a senior, was credited with one assist, four shots on goal, ten shots total, and was a starter in all 16 games.
Second Team honors went to Grace Yetley, Valerie Miller, and Callie Levin.
Yetley, a junior, scored one goal and made one assist. She had 19 shots on goal, 33 shots total, and started all 16 games.
Miller, a sophomore, had one assist, two shots on goal, four shots total, and appeared in 14 games.
Levin, a junior, scored one goal with one shot on goal and two in total. She appeared in 13 games.
The WaMaC Recognition award was presented to Alex Paisley and Rose McAtee.
Paisley, a senior, was the Lady Spartan’s keeper with 51 saves vs. 14 goals allowed in 1,263 minutes of play. She was a starter in all 16 games.
McAtee, a sophomore, scored nine goals, made one assist, had 29 shots on goal, and 37 shots total. She scored 1 PK and started all 16 games.
The Lady Spartans finished the season at 6-4 in the WaMaC East and 10-6 overall. A 3-1 Class 1A Region 2 Quarterfinals win over Ballard led to a 3-0 loss to No.2-ranked Nevada in the semifinals.
