AMES — Solon’s varsity boys finished the 2023 State Golf Tournament in fifth place Tuesday, May 23 at the Veenker Memorial Golf Course.
MOC-Floyd Valley claimed the Class 3A State Championship at 629 with Knoxville the runner up with 643. Rounding out the top ten 3A teams were Gilbert (645), ADM (649), the Spartans (654), Waverly-Shell Rock (659), Winterset (670), Spencer (689), Williamsburg (690), and West Delaware (692).
Jack McCarty was third on the individual leaderboard at nine over par (79-74-153) with Isaiah Zoske eighth at 13 over (84-73-157).
Brennan Heesch tied for 37 at 28 over (88-84-172), Mac McCarty tied for 43rd at 30 over (84-90-174), Quinton Heineman tied for 50th at 36 over (92-88-180), and Sean Stahle also tied for 50th at 36 over (91-89-180).
