SOLON — Solon’s volunteer firefighters will host their annual Pancake Breakfast Sunday, May 28 from 6:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the new fire station (400 Windflower Lane) on the south edge of town. Pancakes, eggs (your way), sausage, and ham with milk, juice, coffee, and water.
Parking will be available at LITE Window & Door (930 S. Market St.), Empire Fitness (100 Windflower Lane), Solon Learning Academy (201 Prairie Rose Lane), and Pet Health Center of Solon (200 Prairie Rose Place).
“There is a little off-street parking just north of the station, and the north parking lot (at the fire station) will be for handicap parking,” said Solon Firefighter Greg Morris. “One of the things I would encourage people to do is to use the sidewalks and stay off of the streets. The sidewalks are kind-of minimal right now, but if you can use them, I would encourage that (for pedestrian safety).” The street directly in front of the station will be closed as the department’s trucks will be parked there. The apron (driveway) will be open for people to line up and enter the station (most likely through the south door).
In addition, the department is holding an annual “Fill the Cart” food drive in cooperation with Sam’s Mainstreet Market, which ends Sunday. While the firefighters will gratefully accept donations (food or cash) at the breakfast (and exchange it for a free raffle ticket), they strongly encourage people to purchase and donate food at Sam’s. “If they tell us breakfast day they already donated uptown, we will give them a raffle ticket,” said Morris.
“We’re looking forward to seeing friendly faces and smiles, and what I really hope is people come and have a fun time.”
