SOLON — The varsity softball team put their preseason preparations to the test Tuesday, May 16 in a scrimmage game against Wahlert Catholic from Dubuque. No scores nor stats were kept, but Coach Brad Holub offered some postgame comments.
“We fell behind early, and I loved how we responded against a very good pitcher from a state qualifying team. Our pitching was good for the most part but I was also encouraged about the strides that we can make to get even better.
Upper classmen performed well, as expected, and I am excited about the young players and how they have shown up and perform like they belong, bringing a competitive edge to our practices and live action, like the scrimmages we have had so far.
The season opened Monday with a visit from arch-rival Mount Vernon.
