SOLON — The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported road rage incident Friday, May 12 at 7:45 a.m. near Highway 382 and Ely Road.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the reporting party called 911 and stated his former spouse was aggressively following him while they were driving and struck his vehicle from behind with hers. The caller had their two shared children in his car, a nine and six year old, at the time of the incident. The occupants of the car were not injured.
Responding deputies made contact with the suspect, Bridget Johnson, age 38 of Solon, as she was driving to her residence. Johnson showed signs of impairment and admitted to recently consuming alcohol and smoking marijuana. Johnson also admitted to intentionally striking the victim’s vehicle.
Johnson was arrested and charged with:
• Operating While under the Influence – 2nd offense (aggravated misdemeanor)
• Domestic Abuse Assault Display of Use of Weapon – 1st offense (aggravated misdemeanor)
• Child endangerment (aggravated misdemeanor)
Johnson was transported to the Johnson County Jail.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and Johnson County Joint Emergency Communications Center (J-COM).
