SHELLSBURG — The varsity girls won the WaMaC Conference Meet Monday, May 8 at the Wildcat Golf Course in Shellsburg with 349, besting runner up West Delaware (362) and third place Williamsburg (372). Clear Creek Amana (381), Center Point-Urbana (387), Benton Community (402), Independence (420), Vinton-Shellsburg (432), South Tama County (462), and Marion (490) completed the field.
Taylor Dee medaled with 83 while Lilly Houtakker was third (85) followed by Peyton Pentico (90), Sydney Dee (91), Rylie Greazel (97), and Izzy Frees (98).
The ladies competed in the Class 3A Region 4 meet Wednesday, May 17 at Pin Oak Pub and Links in Manchester for a shot at the State Tournament. The top two teams in each region advance along with the top six individuals.
The 2023 Class 3A State Meet will be held at the Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls Thursday, May 25 (9:00 a.m. shotgun start) and Friday, May 26 (8:30 a.m. tee times). Tickets are $10 (all ages) and must be purchased online at www.gobound.com/ia/ighsau/ggf/2022-23/leaders. Spectators must scan their ticket for a wristband upon arrival at the course. Spectator golf cart sales ($40/day) will begin Monday, May 22 at 8:00 a.m. Spectators must call the course clubhouse to reserve their cart on a first come basis. Spectators will present their ID at the course the day of the meet to claim their cart.
