SOLON — The varsity girls opened the 2023 season with a 4-2 win over Regina Catholic (Iowa City) Monday, March 27 at home after leading 3-1 at the halfway mark.
Sophomore Rose McAtee led Solon with two goals and one assist. Georgia Havlicek and Morgan Link, both seniors, scored one goal apiece with an assist for Havlicek. Junior Gabby Knipper had one assist.
Senior keeper Alex Paisley spent the full 80 minutes in the goal making four saves.
Grace Gaarde, a senior, scored both of Regina’s goals.
A Friday, March 31 visit to Independence was postponed due to the threat of severe weather.
