ANITA — Iowa Connections Academy, a tuition-free online public school, is now enrolling students for the 2023-2024 school year. As a leading full-time virtual school, Iowa Connections Academy serves approximately 800 students in grades K-12 across the state in partnership with the CAM Community School District.
Those who enroll in Iowa Connections Academy join a tight-knit community of students from all academic backgrounds in a welcoming, distraction-free environment. As an accredited online public school, specially trained educators focus on encouraging students to pursue their passions and find academic success both in the virtual classroom and beyond. State-certified teachers work hard to guide and mentor students using a curriculum that emphasizes both academics and helping to build fundamental life skills in order to gain the confidence and knowledge they need to thrive.
“Families across Iowa want to find the best schooling option for their children, and it’s our goal to help each of our students succeed regardless of any challenges they may have faced in the past,” said Chris Moser, principal of Iowa Connections Academy. “Our educators, students and parents at Iowa Connections Academy have established a positive, encouraging school community, and we look forward to growing this group to include new families in the 2023-24 school year.”
Iowa Connections Academy families come from diverse backgrounds and education histories, choosing the school for a variety of reasons ranging from academic struggles and health challenges to bullying and or needing a more flexible learning schedule. At Iowa Connections Academy, students are encouraged to take ownership of their education journeys through advanced courses, extracurricular activities and individualized support. The school also offers socialization opportunities for students to connect with each other via in-person field trips, online clubs and other interest-based activities.
Ava Granwehr, a senior at Iowa Connections Academy, joined the school in sixth grade to allow her the flexibility to pursue her passion for figure skating. “Iowa Connections Academy’s strength is online learning, so obviously the curriculum is excellent. Looking back, I am grateful that I was able to safeguard my health while continuing my sport and receiving an excellent education,” said Granwehr. “I have been able to learn at my own pace and set my own deadlines for tests and portfolio assignments and, even though all this flexibility is provided, the lessons are still very in-depth.”
