DES MOINES — The Iowa Chapter of Pink Boots Society today announced the release of Rose-Colored Galoshes Hazy IPA in celebration of Women’s History Month. Iowa Pink Boots Society members brewed the beer for its debut on March 8 for International Women’s Day.
The Pink Boots Society organizes a collaboration brew day surrounding International Women’s Day each year. The beer collaborations are Pink Boots Society’s largest fundraisers to support scholarships and programming initiatives for members. Proceeds from sales of the collaboration beer help support the Pink Boots Society’s mission to assist, inspire, and encourage the professional development and education of women and non-binary individuals in the brewing industry.
“A robust Pink Boots Chapter elevates expanded viewpoints and voices,” says Noreen Otto, Executive Director of the Iowa Brewers Guild. “This is vital as Iowa craft brewing matures and expands to more consumers and communities more than ever before.”
For the Iowa Pink Boots Chapter, it was a high watermark to have 13 breweries and over 25 women participate this year. “The Collaborative Brew Day will forever live with me as a huge win,” says Jennifer Nance, chapter co-lead and head brewer at Lark Brewing, Cedar Falls. “My goal as a leader in our chapter is to connect with our members and share my love of our collective industry with them, hopefully inspiring them (and myself) to do things that challenge us, that help us grow, and that get us to that next level.”
The collaboration brew day was hosted by Confluence Brewing, recipe development spearheaded by Nance and Susan Frantz, Head Brewer and Owner of Fenceline Beer Lab in Huxley. “Nance and I developed this Hazy IPA specifically to highlight the hop blend-developed by Pink Boots Society chapters and Yakima Chief Hops,” says Frantz. “I am thrilled to have the privilege to co-lead the Iowa Chapter of Pink Boots and to have the opportunity to encourage more women to advance themselves in the brewing world.”
Proceeds from sales help support the Iowa Pink Boots funding for Iowa educational workshops and scholarships. Rose-Colored Galoshes Hazy IPA will be available in to-go packaging and draft beginning March 8. Participating breweries include Backpocket Pin & Pixel, Big Grove, Brightside Aleworks, Confluence, Convergence Ciderworks, Fenceline, Gezellig, Lark, Lua, Nerdspeak, NoCoast Beer Co., Peace Tree, SingleSpeed, Torrent, Twisted Vine, Uptown Garage.
Pink Boots Society (Pink Boots) is an international 501c3 nonprofit with chapters around the world.
