SOLON — Tuesday, March 7, is decision day for voters in the Solon Community School District. After months of discussion and presentation by the district, residents will decide the fate of a $25.5 million bond issue, which would expand the intermediate school, renovate Lakeview Elementary and the new transportation center (the former truck shop on the north edge of Solon), demolish the current administrative building and replace with a new office building, build a new multi-purpose indoor activity facility, and replace the worn-out turf playing surface at Spartan Stadium.
Voters will also decide if the district’s Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL), $1.34/$1,000 of assessed valuation of taxable property, should be renewed.
And voters will be asked to approve a Revenue Purpose Statement specifying how the bond money will be used.
Polls will be open 7:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.
Only voters residing in the Solon Community School District are eligible to vote in this election. Voters residing in the Linn County portion of the district will vote at Solon City Hall, 101 N. Iowa St. If you are uncertain where to vote go to https://gis.johnsoncountyiowa.gov/pollngplaces/ or call the Johnson County Auditor’s Office at 319-356-6004.
