Calder Brand by Janet Dailey. When Joe Dollarhide, a cowboy in need of redemption, rescued Sarah Foxworth from a violent attack, he won her heart. Years later, when Sarah walks back into Joe’s world, he’s shaken to the core. Sarah’s only hope is to find a better life for herself and her son–a child that is Joe’s. Now a prosperous rancher, Joe yearns to finally make a home with Sarah and their boy. Only Joe’s own road to riches has been strewn with obstacles, some looming even larger than the demons he still struggles against. But life has also shown Joe that nothing worth having ever comes easy, and that Sarah is a woman worth fighting for. Continue the story with Calder Grit, book two in the series.
Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo. Alex Stern returns in #1 New York Times bestselling author Leigh Bardugo’s Hell Bent, another tale of murder and dark magic set among the Ivy League elite. Galaxy “Alex” Stern is determined to break Darlington out of hell-even if it costs her a future at Lethe and at Yale. But Alex is playing with forces far beyond her control, and when faculty members begin to die off, she knows these aren’t just accidents. Something deadly is at work in New Haven, and if Alex is going to survive, she’ll have to reckon with the monsters of her past and a darkness built into the university’s very walls. Book 2 in the Alex Stern series. Leigh Bardugo is well known for her best-selling young adult fantasy novels, The Shadow and Bone Trilogy, recently adapted into a tv series.
Wicked Dreams by Lisa Jackson. On the wild Oregon coast, tucked between the mountains and the sea, stands Siren Song, home to a group of women known as The Colony. Their aunt hoped the isolated lodge would be a sanctuary, a place where she could protect them and their special gifts. But nowhere is safe from the man who has marked them for death. The note pinned to the dead body found on the remote beach has no name, just Ravinia Rutledge’s phone number and the words Next of Kin. Ravinia insists she doesn’t recognize the man on the mortuary slab, but she suspects Detective Nev Rhodes doesn’t believe her. He can tell that she’s one of them, the Siren Song women. Book 5 in The Colony series.
