CENTER POINT — The Spartan boys tangled on the mats with Center Point-Urbana (CPU) and Independence (Indee) in a triangular meet Thursday, Dec. 15 in Center Point.
Solon defeated CPU 60.0 – 21.0 but fell 53.0-18.0 to Independence.
In action against the Stormin’ Pointers, Joe Ebert (285 pounds) only needed 14 seconds to pin CPU’s Colton McDowell, Lawsin Sinnwell (132) pinned Will Griswold in 3:14, Charlie Karam (138) pinned Bo Lawrence in 1:49, David Karam (152) pinned Aiden Novoa in 4:18, Braydon Hoffman (220) pinned Sam Leedom in 1:42, and Carson Kidwell (145) pinned Brady Holthaus in 2:54 in an extra JV match.
Sinnwell also took a 7-6 decision from the Mustangs’ Kale Wieland at 132 pounds. Also in action against Indee Kyler Jensen (182) pinned Cayne Schultz in 1:04 and Zeb Kleinsmith (195) won a 6-4 decision over Landon Duffy.
17 extra junior varsity (JV) matches were held between the Spartans and Mustangs. Jaydyn Bevans (120) pinned Dawson Scheetz in 43 seconds, Jordan Schmidt (132) won a 5-4 decision over Remy Ressler, Milo Ashbacker (145) won a 19-7 major decision over Nathan Faust, Carson Kidwell (145) pinned Kaleb Clendenen in 1:20, and Oliver Owens (195) pinned Masin Hummel in 20 seconds.
Keokuk, Midland, Muscatine, and Vinton-Shellsburg visit Thursday, Dec. 22 for an evening of dual meets starting at 3:00 p.m. Marion and South Tama visit for a triangular meet Thursday, Jan. 5 at 6:00 p.m.
