WILLIAMSBURG — McKenna Rogers and Olivia Bonnema posted wins for the Lady Spartans varsity wrestling team Monday, Dec. 5 in the 2022 Williamsburg Girls Invitational.
Rogers (110 pounds) received a bye in the quarterfinals, pinned West Liberty’s Charli Gingerich in 1:13 in the semis, and pinned Williamsburg’s Zoey Thede in 2:00 in the 1st place match.
Bonnema (140) pinned Anamosa’s Kaitlyn Markley in 1:10 in the quarterfinals, pinned Prairie, Cedar Rapids’ Madison Childers in 4:17 in the semis, and won a 5-4 decision over Mid-Prairie’s Grace Conway in the 1st place match.
Kate Richards, Mik Langenberg, and Kendall Jensen placed second at 115, 135, and 170 pounds respectively. Richards won by a 16-5 major decision over Williamsburg’s Hayden Wade in round 3, Langenberg only needed 17 seconds to pin Colfax-Mingo’s Lillie Jones in the third round, and Jensen pinned Central DeWitt’s Anna Hurning in 4:56 in the second round.
Alannah Mahoney, Alexis Anderson, and Addison Burden placed third at 125, 140, and 145. Adlie Miller placed fourth at 235 pounds, Kara VeDepo was fifth at 110 while Meg Düster and Audrey Howell placed sixth at 135 and 155 pounds.
