SOLON — The Board of Education for the Solon Community School District (SCSD) met in special session Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7:00 a.m. to discuss and accept the resignation of longtime vocal music director Joel Foreman.
Grant Evers, Mindy Tearse, and Daniel Tearse addressed the board, urging them to not terminate Foreman, citing his positive impact in the district and community.
However, Foreman had already tendered his resignation as the subject of an unspecified investigation.
Superintendent Davis Eidahl said during the meeting, “We recognize his impact, his influence,” and noted the board and district had to be very limited as to what they could say regarding a personnel issue, especially in an open public forum.
Board President Tim Brown agreed, saying “Obviously, personal matters are a tricky thing. The board is limited in what it can discuss and employees are entitled to the privacy of their personnel files. To that extent, what is told in public session is very narrow. The board has been made aware of the nature of the investigation. My understanding is that as the investigation is ongoing, Mr. Foreman offered his resignation.”
Foreman’s resignation was accepted on a 3-0 vote by Jami Wolf, Adam Haluska, and Brown. Dan Coons and Cassie Rochholz were absent.
