On Saturday, Sept. 24, Iowa state parks will host a Statewide Volunteer Day, and we invite you to lend a hand. Nearly 20 parks and forests will be hosting events that include picking up litter, painting shelters, working on trails, and more.
Volunteers will meet at Lake Macbride State Park’s south shop (near the primitive campground) located at 3979 Cottage Reserve Road Extension NE starting at 9:00 a.m. to help with an Eagle Scout project replacing a storage shed and lean-to as well as invasive brush removal. Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants and bring gloves. The work is expected to be wrapped up by noon.
