JOHNSON COUNTY — The annual Farm Tour sponsored by the Ag/Business Group of Johnson County will be held Tuesday, August 2 starting at 1:00 p.m. Participants will visit central and southern Johnson County to see ag history at the Poor Farm, tour a working cattle farm and an ag business, and walk through a winery.
The tour meets at the Johnson County Poor Farm , 4811 Melrose Avenue, Iowa City with a look at the improvements that have been made, and how the farm is currently serving Johnson County residents. Carpool options are available.
At 2:30 p.m. the tour stops at Burns Angus Farm, 1785 IWV Road SW, Oxford. This is a third-generation farm and participants will hear how they manage their 130-head herd.
The tour stops at Eldon C. Stutsman, Inc., 350 Oakcrest Road SE, Hills, at 4:00 p.m. to learn more about the four-generation, 88-year-old diversified ag business while touring their facilities. The final stop, at 5:00 p.m., is the Walker Homestead, 3867 James Avenue SW, Iowa City. A tour of the vineyards will end with drinks at your own leisure and expense.
There is no charge for the tour.
