Public apology to Sue Randall
In my recent tribute to Bob Morris, I poked fun about gossip in general in Solon, the small town I grew to love, and Sue’s Beauty Salon, more correctly called Hair Styling Chalet. If anyone took offense, I sincerely apologize. I promise to learn from my mistake and not do it again.
Editor’s note: As the editor of the Solon Economist, all editorial content goes through me. So, when Brian submitted his tribute to Bob Morris I looked it over, checking for spelling and punctuation – basic proofreading. I would have written it differently, myself, but Brian has his own unique style and I ran it virtually unchanged.
A newspaper should inform, educate, and sometimes even entertain its readers. It should never cause personal anguish and distress to an innocent person. Regrettably, Brian’s piece did just that when a small joke about Sue Randall’s beauty shop backfired and cut sharper and more deeply than any sword. Sue has worked long and hard to build a stellar reputation for her business and for herself, a reputation she is justifiably proud of.
To Sue Randall, all I can do is offer my personal apology, ask forgiveness, and promise to be more careful about what I allow on the pages of “my” newspaper.
