DES MOINES– The Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association (IAHSSCA) named its Class 1A Academic All-State honorees on June 13 and five Lady Spartans were acknowledged among the academic elite.
Senior Alex Locke was named to the Second Team for defense. She started all 20 games on defense for the Lady Spartans, tallying two assists and scoring five goals on 19 shots (11 on goal).
Junior Isabel “Izzy” Paisley also was named to the Second Team for defense. She started in 18 of the games this season and was credited with one shot on goal as a defender.
Juniors Alex Paisley, Morgan Link and Maria Milliman received Honorable Mention recognition as a goalkeeper, a forward and a defender, respectively.
As goalkeeper, Paisley served 1,460 minutes defending Solon’s goal, allowing just ten goals all season while amassing 38 saves.
Link started all 20 games as a midfielder/forward accumulating eight assists and scoring 23 goals, taking 99 shots (54 on goal), and scoring on a sole penalty kick she attempted. Milliman started 20 games as a defender.
Congratulations to Locke, Izzy and Alex Paisley, Link, and Milliman for exemplary accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.
