SOLON — The 2022 Music on Mainstreet concerts will begin Wednesday, June 1 at 7 p.m. We are delighted to kick off the 10-week series with Solon Mariachi directed by Desmond Cervantez, Solon’s High School band director featuring Solon High School Mariachi students. June 8 features the Solon Teachers plus some significant help from former students, namely Mr. James McAtee, who has been a crowd pleaser on every occasion. On June 15, Dave Parsons will present the Brick Street Ramblers, which is a Dixieland band. Robin Banks is new to the Solon Stage with a 60’s to the 90’s classic rock song list. Sweet Cacophony rounds out June with a folk concert you will be sure to enjoy on June 29.
On July 6, JJ and Guitar Dave will present a concert of popular music and great guitar sure to make you tap your toes. There will be no concert on July 13 because of Beef Day preparations.
On July 20, Brock Family Music presents the Future Stars of Solon featuring many music students who will perform solo pieces. We invited Solon’s own Alex Newkirk back this summer for a special evening of his singing and piano work. He is a night club singer in Chicago and is so very talented and happy to make a home town appearance and see old friends. Hart and Parker are on the schedule for August 3 and perform all types of easy listening music for the audience with a very upbeat and positive spirit.
Our concert series ends with a grand finale featuring Joel Foreman, Solon’s High School vocal director and his jazz quartet, and some guest appearances by special guests we have enjoyed over the years.
Bring your lawn chairs and come and enjoy Wednesday evenings on Mainstreet in Solon. These are fair weather concerts. Watch the Solon Facebook page for cancellations due to weather. If you have questions or need more information, please contact Nancy Upmeyer at 319 331 1553.
