Join with the GFWC/Iowa Solon Women’s Club to celebrate Earth Day, Friday, April. This year’s theme is “Invest in Our Planet.”
Spend the day or the weekend helping clean up our community. Clean your yard, street or ditch in front of your own home to pick up trash, especially those lightweight plastics that tend to blow around and end up in our waterways. Remember to keep cigarette butts off streets and roads. Plastic filters can end up in city sewers and find their way into the waterways also. Recycle what you can.
Contribute to Solon’s recycling efforts. Recycle some normally unrecyclable items with us, such as: cigarette butts and packages, GoGo SqueeZ (or any brand) snack pouches and lids, Colgate brand toothpaste tubes, boxes, dental floss, etc. Those items will be sent items to Terracycle, a recycling company, for disposal. Drop-off boxes are located at the Solon Public Library. For the remainder of April, there will also be a large basket available at the library for any unwanted plastic Easter eggs. If you want to dispose of them, consider recycling for future use.
