Solon’s varsity boys soccer team dipped to 6-2 on the season with a 5-1 upset loss to the Beckman Catholic Trailblazers (Blazers) Thursday, April 14 at Beckman.
Dillon Bruck, a senior, put in the Spartans’ only goal, and had two shots on the day, both on goal. Seniors Owen Erusha and Gabe Hinman, and freshman Keegan Conway took one shot each with Erusha and Hinman on goal. Conway was credited with an assist.
Keeper John Peters, a senior, allowed five goals, but made six saves in the 80-minute match.
The win bumped the Blazers up to 3-0 on the season, and the top of the WaMaC East. Marion (2-0/4-1), Mount Vernon (2-1/6-2), and Solon (2-2.6-2) were second-through-fourth in East standings on Monday, April 18. Maquoketa (0-4/0-5) and West Delaware (0-2/0-4) rounded out the division.
Benton Community visits Friday, April 22 at 5:30 p.m. Solon visits Maquoketa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26 and Mount Vernon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29.
