After a 5-0 start to the season, including the first win over Iowa City Regina Catholic in 15 years, the Solon varsity boys suffered a setback Tuesday, April 5, in Marion.
Battling wind and rain, the Spartans fell, 2-1, to the Wolves (2-1).
After a scoreless first half, Marion scored in the 42nd minute, striking again in the 52nd minute.
Senior Dillon Bruck put Solon on the scoreboard in the 59th minute. Bruck took four shots on goal with two shots, one on goal, from fellow senior William Wittich. Sophomore Eli Freerks recorded one shot on goal. Keeper John Peters made five saves in 80 minutes of play.
The Spartans travel to Beckman Catholic, in Dyersville, Thursday, April 14, for a 4:30 p.m. match, rescheduled from Friday, April 15. Benton Community visits Friday, April 22, at 5:30 p.m. ahead of a Tuesday, April 26, trip to Maquoketa for a 7 p.m. match.
