SOLON — Solon High School’s varsity cross country runners were recognized by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches (IATC) with appearances in the organization’s preseason rankings, released on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
The Spartan boys were ranked fourth in Class 3A with Dallas Center-Grimes in the No.1 spot. WaMaC rivals were also mentioned with Marion at No.5, Mount Vernon-Lisbon in the No. 9 spot, Center Point-Urbana (CPU) tenth, and Clear Creek Amana (CCA) in at No. 13.
The Lady Spartans were ranked fifth in 3A with Ballard in the top spot. CPU was ranked at No. 8, Mount Vernon-Lisbon No. 16, and Marion in at No. 20. CCA was unranked.
The 2021 season opens on Saturday, Aug. 28 in Anamosa at the Anamosa Middle School (410 Old Dubuque Road) at 9:00 a.m. The Spartans will run on Thursday, Sept. 2 in an invitational meet at the Iowa City Kickers Soccer Club (4400 Soccer Club Road, Iowa City) beginning at 5 p.m.
