SOLON— The Iowa Girls Coaches Association (IGCA) recently announced All State, All District and All-Star teams for the 2021 high school softball season with three Solon varsity Lady Spartans – Sarah Heick, Hillary Wilson, and Camryn Keith being recognized.
Heick, a senior, was named to the 3A All State First Team, the 3A Northeast All District Team, and was selected as a catcher and first baseman for the Blue Team in the 2021 All Star Games, which were held on Saturday, July 24, at Waukee High School. Heick was second on the team in hits with 73 including 46 base hits, 17 doubles, two triples, and eight homeruns. She drove in a team high 56 runs and scored 29 times. Heick made 137 put outs and 23 assists this season as well.
Wilson was also named to the 3A All State First Team and was a 3A Northeast All District pick as well as a sophomore. She led the team in hitting with 80 for the season, including 52 singles, 18 doubles three triples, and seven homeruns. She led the squad in RBIs and runs scored with 47 and 65 respectively. Wilson also led the team in stolen bases with nine. Defensively she made 55 put outs and 74 assists.
Mount Vernon’s Robin Brand was named the Coach of the Year for the 3A All State Team and was also named the 3A NE District Coach of the Year.
Camryn Keith, a junior, was selected for the 3A All State Second Team. She was third in hits for the Lady Spartans with 68 including 47 singles, 13 doubles, and eight homeruns. Keith brought in 55 runs and crossed the plate 40 times with eight stolen bases to her credit. She led the team in put outs with 222 this season out of 236 total chances and made ten assists.
Solon finished the season at 26-13 with a 12-0 loss to Davenport Assumption in the 3A Region 7 Championship game.
