MANCHESTER– Only Williamsburg and West Delaware were better.
The Solon varsity girls’ golf team placed third at the WaMaC Conference Supermeet Monday, May 10, at Manchester’s Pin Oak Pub and Links.
It was the highest finish for the Lady Spartans in at least six years, noted Solon Head Coach Curtis Hendrickson.
Senior Katlyn Jeter cracked the top-10 for the Lady Spartans with a 95 over 18 holes. Sophomore Taylor Dee was 14th with a 103, with junior Camryn Keith 26th after posting a 108. Sophomore Lily Houtakker and junior Lauren Roskopf each carded a 112, while junior Izzy Messenger added a 122.
Solon finished with a team score of 418, edging Beckman Catholic, but behind the pace set by Williamsburg (379) and West Delaware (382). Vinton-Shellsburg (430), Independence (431), Clear Creek Amana (441), Marion (450), South Tama (453), Benton Community (456), Center Point-Urbana (457) and Maquoketa (558) rounded out the 12-team field.
