VAN HORNE– Solon’s varsity boys stopped a two-game skid with a 2-1 soccer victory on the road against Benton Community Monday, April 19.
The Spartans broke a 1-1 tie with a second-half goal.
Senior Gabe Yetley and junior Dillon Bruck scored for Solon, with assists by Bruck and junior William Wittich. The Spartans had nine shots on goal.
Solon junior keeper John Peters recorded seven saves against one goal allowed.
The Spartans moved to 6-3.
Solon was scheduled to travel to Maquoketa to face the Cardinals Tuesday, April 27, before hosting Mount Vernon Thursday, April 29, one of three remaining home matches.
The Spartans then play back-to-back road games at Williamsburg Monday, May 3, and at Center Point-Urbana Tuesday, May 4.
