SOLON- Solon’s Lady Spartans dominated the field against West Delaware Monday, April 15, winning 11-1 with 18 minutes still left in the second half. Spartan’s new sweeper, junior Vik Meade, proved herself worthy of the position. Top scorer, senior Alison McKinnie, had five goals and two assists, Junior Anna Seydel scored four goals with three assists.
Sophomore Ali Herdliska contributed a strong goal in the second half. Junior Madi Durr had a clean pass to junior Katie Vitosh who was able to make the last goal with a head shot.
“We did a great job of controlling the ball and never allowed West Delaware to get anything going on offense,” Coach John Tucker said, “The midfield play was very solid, and the defense played extremely tough, allowing only two shots on goal the entire game. Our offense is really starting to work together well. I was proud of their efforts not only as individual play makers, but also as a cohesive team.”
That work continued Friday (April 19) at home against Anamosa.
McKinnie and Seydel each had four goals in a 10-0 shellacking of the Raiders. Herdliska and Vitosh each added a single goal and assists went to Vitosh and Seydel.
