IOWA CITY– Christmas came early for the West High Women of Troy as they gave themselves a present Friday, Dec. 19, by scrubbing the Cedar Rapids Washington Warriors, 67-21, in Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC) play.
The West High girls, ranked fourth in Class 5A by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, had little trouble with the 4-3 (now 4-4) and unranked Warriors. Washington, led by Anne Visser’s seven points, was held to only 11 points in the first half, and scored most of their points at the charity stripe.
West remained perfect with an 8-0 record.
Mikaela Morgan and Danielle Craig led West with 15 and 11 points respectively.
West returns to the hardwood on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, as the J-Hawks of Cedar Rapids Jefferson visit.
