TIFFIN– Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) multi-sport standout, Karsyn Stratton, hit the 1,000-point mark Friday, Jan. 4, at home against the South Tama Trojans. Stratton, a junior, reached the milestone in the second period with 14 points already on the board, and finished the night with a game-high 22 as the Creek Girls disposed of South Tama 47-36.

The Clippers took the first quarter 11-6 after watching an 8-0 lead evaporate, and led 29-13 at halftime thanks in part to seven consecutive points from Stratton and a Meagan Harvey three-point basket late in the second period. Harvey drained her second three-pointer of the night in the third period to make it a 37-19 ballgame. The Clippers were outscored in the final eight minutes and suffered a nearly five-minute dry spell, which was broken by freshman Calia Clubb, who scored back-to-back field goals for a 45-29 advantage.

The win improved the Creek Girls to 6-4 while dropping the Trojans to 5-6.

The Blazers of Dyersville Beckman Catholic will visit the Creek on Friday, Jan. 11, with a 7:30 p.m. varsity tip-off, and the Clippers will travel to Williamsburg on Tuesday, Jan. 15, with a 7:30 p.m. start. The Clippers sank the rival Raiders 62-50 at home on Dec. 18. The Mustangs from Independence will gallop into the CCA gym on Friday, Jan. 18. The Creek Girls corralled the Mustangs 67-31 at “Indee” on Dec. 11.
