Oak Hill Elementary School Cornerstone Ceremony

TIFFIN– The Masonic cornerstone ceremony is a time-honored tradition, taking place for hundreds of years in the United States of America. President George Washington, a Freemason, dedicated the United States Capitol Building during a cornerstone ceremony in 1793.
Canopy Lodge No. 290, of Oxford, has served the communities of Oxford, Tiffin and the surrounding area continuously since its formation in 1870. The Grand Lodge of Iowa was founded in 1844 and is celebrating 175 years of Masonry in Iowa this year.
The Masons of Canopy Lodge No. 290 of Oxford, along with officers of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Iowa, A.F. & A.M. will conduct a formal ceremony for the cornerstone of the new Oak Hill Elementary School at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 27. The address of the school is 504 N. Park Rd. in Tiffin.
The ceremony is open to the public, and planned to be outdoors, so prepare accordingly. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the school.
Oak Hill Elementary is part of the Clear Creek Amana School District and will serve fourth- and fifth-graders from Tiffin Elementary and North Bend Elementary Schools.
The Clear Creek Amana School District serves the communities of the Amana Colonies, Cosgrove, Oxford, Tiffin, and parts of North Liberty and Coralville.
