NLFD responds in 7 minutes to home fire

NORTH LIBERTY– The North Liberty Fire Department responded to a manufactured home fire on at 12:08 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 149 Golfview Ct. for a report of a manufactured home on fire.
Firefighters arrived within seven minutes after dispatch and found smoke and fire coming from the rear of the residence. The residence was occupied at the time of the fire, which originated in a back bedroom and was determined to be accidental as a result of a 5-year-old child playing with a lighter. There were no working smoke detectors in the residence.
The North Liberty Fire Department reminds all residence to check their smoke detectors and make sure they are working properly, especially this time of the year. Nationally, December and January have the highest incidence of fires.
Estimated damage is unavailable at this time, but the residence is likely a complete loss.
There were no reported civilian injuries or firefighter injuries.
North Liberty units responding to the scene were Quint 114, Engine 113, Rescue 119, and Squad 115. The North Liberty Fire Department was assisted by the North Liberty Police Department, Solon Fire Department, Coralville Fire Department, Tiffin Fire Department, the Johnson County Ambulance Service, Johnson County Joint Communication Center, North Liberty Streets Department, MidAmerican Energy, Aliant Energy and Linn County REC.
