IOWA CITY– The Johnson County Fair showcased the future of agriculture as 4H and FFA (Future Farmers of America) kids showed their livestock and other projects during the fair, which ran from Friday, July 19, through Wednesday, July 24, at the fairgrounds in Iowa City.
Events ranged from non-agricultural projects such as model rocketry and a Classy Chassy Cruisers Show ‘n Shine (car show) to a truck and tractor pull, the annual queen contest, and the (rubber) Chicken Throwing Contest. Various themes were highlighted throughout the week with “Ag Day” on Sunday, “Senior Day” on Monday, “Kids’ Day” on Tuesday, and “Veterans’ Day” on Wednesday.
Johnson County is home to 15 4H clubs and nine “Clover Kids,” or kindergarten-third grade 4H clubs.
