Creek Boys pound the Trojans

CCA bombards S. Tama with 28 runs and 22 hits in WaMaC sweep

TAMA– The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity baseball team remained comfortably atop the WaMaC West, with an 11-3 conference showing and 11-4 record overall, after plastering the South Tama Trojans, 15-3 and 13-2, on Monday, July 6, in Tama.
The Clippers and Trojans were tied, 3-3, at the end of the third inning of game one, but the Boats unleashed a seven-run barrage in the top of the fourth and ended the game with five runs in the fifth.
Parker Smith, Brock Reade and Ben Swails each smacked a double in the contest with two RBI for Smith and three for Swails. Grant Jensen nailed three singles driving in three runs, while Reade and Cooper Hoffman had a pair of singles. Smith, Sam Young and Stirlen Roberson also had a single each. Tyler Schrepfer took the win, giving up four hits and three runs striking out three in the five-inning affair.
The Creek Boys scattered runs across all seven innings in the nightcap with two in the top of the first, two more in the third, and one in the fifth, for a 5-2 lead. Five Clippers sailed across the dish in the sixth and three more runs scored in the seventh for the win and sweep. Jensen had three hits and three RBI, including a double. Casey Ogden had a three-RBI double and Jensen and Swails had two singles. Smith, Reade and Schrepfer had a single apiece. Cade Armstrong went the distance on the mound giving up 10 hits and two runs with four strikeouts.
