A Clipper and two Bolts earn hoop honors

CCA’s Withrow and Liberty’s Telander and Hazeltine recognized
Clear Creek Amana senior Christian Withrow goes up for two of his team-high 26 points against West Delaware Feb. 12, at home, on Senior Night. Withrow surpassed the 1,000-point mark, was named the WaMaC West Division’s Player of the Year and was a unanimous selection to the All-Conference First Team while being named to an IBCA All-Substate Team.

IOWA CITY– The Iowa Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) named Clear Creek Amana senior Christian Withrow and Liberty High seniors Kelby Telander and Ira Hazeltine to 2021 All-Substate Teams.
Withrow, a senior, was recognized as WaMaC West Division Player of the Year and a unanimous selection to the division’s All-Conference First Team. He topped the 1,000-career point mark, leading the Creek Boys with 440 points this season, including 19 three-point shots. Withrow hit 55.2 percent of his field goals and 71.1 percent from the free throw line. He pulled down 125 rebounds, blocked five shots, made 58 assists and pulled off 26 steals.
Telander, a senior, was a Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC) Mississippi Division First Team All-Division pick, putting up a team-high 177 points for the Lightning. He was a 58.3 percent field goal shooter, sank seven three-point baskets, and hit 53.7 percent of his free throws. Telander dominated on the boards with a team-high 82 rebounds, made 13 assists, blocked seven shots and accumulated seven steals.
Hazeltine, a senior, was a Mississippi Division Second Team All-Division pick racking up 134 points, including a team-high 26 three-point baskets in 13 games played. He sank 44.3 percent of his field goals and struck gold 66.7 percent of the time at the free throw line. Hazeltine pulled down 18 rebounds, made 18 assists, blocked four shots and made 11 steals.
