However, West was hot on the track and in the field winning the meet, as has become tradition.

West High varsity girls’ golf preview

IOWA CITY– So far, the 2018 season has been one of adapting for the Iowa City West High girls varsity golf team. The Women of Troy, under Coach Mary Goodfellow and assistant coach Don Bristow, has had to adapt to miserable weather conditions, the loss to graduation of seasoned veterans and the loss of many junior varsity (JV) players to Liberty High. Also, the squad is adapting to a new home, as this will be the first season of calling the Finkbine Golf Course the home of the Women of Troy.

Stockman is in his fourth year with the program and is facing not only the loss of the veteran trio (Emma Davis, Allison Greathouse and Sheyanne Koethe) but lower participation numbers overall.

Young Trojans need to develop quickly
IOWA CITY– Last year, the Iowa City West High Trojans entered the Class 3A state soccer championships as the eighth-seeded (last) team and emerged as the state champions after a dramatic run at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines. The Trojans knocked off No.1-seeded Cedar Rapids Prairie in a shootout for a 6-5 finish and 2-1 final score in the quarterfinal round, then took out fourth-seeded Bettendorf, 4-1, before defeating No. 2-seed West Des Moines Valley, 1-0, for the championship. West finished the season 13-7 overall and 8-5 in the Mississippi Valley Conference.

Spring football 2018

It’s time to talk spring football for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
The Hawks have to replace three linebackers, two backs and one lineman on the defensive side of the ball.
On offense, the top two running backs, two starting linemen and a wide receiver are gone.
Defensively speaking, Iowa gave up an average of 19.9 points per game, which isn’t a bad number.

It is a strong program if last season is any reflection. With an 11-8 team record during the 2016-17 season, Solon scored 95 goals on 305 shots; recorded 42 assists; and only gave up 43 goals, a 2.39 average per game, boasting 157 total saves, a save percentage of 78.5 percent.
